Some are calling this a ‘presidential campaign speech.’ She’s obviously as qualified as anyone else.
In this speech, Winfrey urged women to “speak up” about sexual abuse and promised that a “new day is on the horizon” in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal. She recalled the story of Recy Taylor, a young black woman raped in 1944 by six white men who were never brought to justice. The speech quickly got audience members calling for a presidential run. Stedman Graham, Winfrey’s longtime partner, told the Los Angeles Times a White House run would be “up to the people.” But “she would absolutely do it,” he said. The popular talk-show host had previously said she was reconsidering the viability of running after President Trump took office.
President Oprah in 2020? It literally could be worse.
