3. Adeousn was the former Commissioner of Finance in Ogun State

She was served as a commissioner of finance in Ogun State between 2011 and 2015. She helped the state to raise taxes and improve its finances.

4. She’s in support of Nigeria’s foreign exchange restrictions

Shortly before being appointed, she told reporters that she was in support of the country’s decision to restrict foreign exchange in order to help the economy. This however did not excite foreign companies that have been trying to lure Nigeria to reverse its decision.

5. She is a UK-trained economist and accountant

Kemi Adeosun studied applied economics at the University of East London. She also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Public Financial Management from the University of London. Her career began in 1989 when she worked as an accounting assistant at British Telecom.

6. No political ambitions

She never had the thought of being a politician. She was however recommended by a friend for the job at Ogun State where she excelled in streamlining the financial affairs of the state and got good political reputation.

7. The ministerial appointment is her second public sector appointment

Her post as the commissioner for finance at Ogun state was her first appointment in the public sector. Her previous working experience were had in the UK.

8. Some believe she’s not experienced

When compared with the former Minister of Finance- Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, some believe Kemi Adeosun is inexperienced in managing Nigeria’s finance docket.
