5 Celebrities Who Went Private About Their Pregnancies

Just as the pregnancy experience is different with different women, some celebrities also opted to keep their pregnancies away from their social media accounts and the public eye. In the past we have had a number of celebrities take us through the different stages of their pregnancies in pictures but these celebrities below defied the odds and only let the news out when they were ready, surprising many of their fans and followers.

While the rumour mills said the Nollywood actress was pregnant, the social media friendly actress, kept her pregnancy news and baby bump photos to herself. Not until Tonto gave birth in February to her son, did she share the news on her Instagram page and also shared her maternity photo shoot on her website.


#2. Ivie Okujaye


The Nollywood actress who got married in April 2015, also kept her pregnancy news to herself and only shared photos of her baby bump a day before she put to bed 6 days ago on July 1st.


#3. Osas Ighodaro Ajibade


Osas surely surprised us when she announced the news of her pregnancy in June Via Genevieve Magazine’s June edition. The new mother who announced her baby had arrived and came earlier than expected on June 28th, explained why she kept the news to herself for so long saying: “It is a very sensitive period for us especially with my older sister passing away from malaria when she was with child. My mum is really protective and she is on board with my keeping this pregnancy a secret” .

The Mavin star successfully kept news of her wedding a secret and even in the midst of some blurry wedding photos shared in December 2015, the singer maintained her silence. Fast forward to July 1st, the award winning singer, shared two videos confirming that she had indeed gotten married and now a mom to a baby boy.


#5. Chimamanda Adichie


Perhaps, this was the most shocking pregnancy news of all as the award winning iconic writer confirmed on July 1st that she had indeed just birthed a baby girl even though the exact delivery period is not known. On why she kept her pregnancy news a secret, she said:

”This is the first time I’m saying it publicly. I have a little girl. I have some friends who probably don’t know I was pregnant or that I had a baby, I just feel like we live in an age when women are supposed to perform pregnancy. We don’t expect fathers to perform fatherhood. I went into hiding. I wanted it to be as personal as possible”
