The Thane Police on Friday summoned Nawazuddin Siddiqui, his wife and a lawyer in relation to the investigations of the Call Detail Record (CDR) scam unearthed in January. Although the actor failed to respond.
The actor is accused of spying on his wife by hiring private detectives to trace her call records and keeping a track of her contact list and whereabouts. The critically-acclaimed actor’s name came to light after the police in Thane nabbed 11 persons, mainly private detectives, who were involved in the Call Detail Records scam.
Deputy Commissioner of police (crime), Abhishek Trimukhi said in a statement, “Three arrested accused, Prasad Palekar, Ajinkya Nagargoje and Jigar Makhwana informed the police that an advocate had obtained the CDRs of Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife from private detectives. Hence to verify the same, we have summoned them.”
“One of the accused has revealed the name of Siddiqui during interrogation. We have issued summons to him, but he has failed to appear before us for investigations,” Thane Crime Branch Senior Police Inspector Nitin Thakare said on Friday.
Investigators have also stated that the accused have revealed the names of several other Bollywood personalities, businessmen and even politicians who are likely to be called soon, for the matter concerned.
