Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’ Biography



Omotola Jalade fully known as Omotola Jalade Ekehinde, Omosexy, was born on 7 February 1978. She is currently aged 38 (at at 2016). Her parents are Oluwatoyin Jolade (mother) and Oluwasola Jalade (father). She hails from Ondo State. Omotola grew up in a family of five, her parents and two younger brothers –Tayo and Bolaji Jalade. Her mother worked at J.T Chanrai Nigeria and her father with the YMCA (Young Men Christian Association) and the Lagos Country. Omotola had not the mind of being an actress, but to be involved in business management. While awaiting her results from the University, she began modeling to earn a living. Later, she was drawn into acting when she accompanied a friend to an audition. She began to feel the love of the art. She played her first acting role in the movie, Venom of Justice, directed by Reginald Ebere. She was given the lead role to play in the movie, which sets her career race in the movie industry. Her first big role was in the movie, Mortal Inheritance (1995). This movie is regarded as one of the best Nigerian movies. Ever since then, she has continued to make herself known in the industry. She is happily married to Matthew Ekehinde with four children. She is talented and worthy of emulation in the industry.


Omotola attended Chrisland School, Opebi (1981 – 1987), Oxford Children School (1987), Santos Layout, Command Secondary School Kaduna, (1988 – 1993). She had a brief stint at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She finally completed her studies at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos in 2004 where she studied Estate Management.

Popular roles: In her first movie role, she portrayed an ill woman combating sickle-cell disease. This appears the best she had ever played.

In interviews, the actress often talked about hardships faced in family life. She once mentioned how she had fallen for other men and had been tempted to cheat. She realized it to be wrong and quickly came back to her right senses to save her marriage. Also in 2015, she revealed her fears. She spoke of her career as a threat to her marital life. It was at the time of the release of the movie, The Prostitute. Her nerves were however calmed when her husband told her he was not bothered about it.
